Get custom fields value plugin for wordpress

By Susan — [ ] Reported at 7:33 am, 12/01/2004.

Scott at Coffee2code has written a very important plugin for wordpress that fetches and echoes the value of a custom field declared along with a post in wordpress. This is a very important plugin to expand the power of wordpress by adding more custom fields to a post. Simply add a custom field value in the post and call that custom field in the main loop or off the main loop in wordpress through any of the two different functions made to do the same… and cool… you get the custom field value fetched! This is something that wordpress developers have forgotten to add in their wordpress releases….

WpPaginate plugin is designed to paginate your blog posts similar to mt-paginate plugin of movabletype.
Present and former Movable Type users will probably have heard of MT-Paginate, a plugin that makes short and simple work of a PHP-powered multi-page archive. A cool developement for wordpress! Now you can also offer an author's page to each of your blog authors. This authors page reports total number of posts made by each author. This also provides some of the data provided by the author in his/her profile through the admin section. The best part of this plugin is that it offers a contact form interface so that a site visitor can establish a contact with the author of the post.

By Susan — [ ] Reported at 2:30 am, 11/06/2004.

Ele-zeta has written a very useful plugin called Time To Read! This plugin allows you to know how much time an average user would take to read your particular post. This is a very important plugin from the usability point of you. You can now get an estimate of how much time a user will have to spend to go through your whole post! Now if you're writing for a busy niche, then you should really count your time to read, or else your posts will not get the attention that you want!

Per-Post Style Plugin for Wordpress

By Susan — [ ] Reported at 2:13 am, 11/06/2004.

Blind Muse has created a Per-Post-Style plugin for wordpress that allows you to specify individual styles for separate posts on your wordpress blog. What you only need to do is download the plugin, install and activate it. Add a custom field to posts. Create a posts-style directory and put several stylesheets for your posts. Now specify a particular style for your individual posts and they are picked up and implemented separately for each post!

I think now i can use this plugin to create a specific styled sticky post in each category and show up my ad banners in that sticky post.

WpVersionControl Plugin For Wordpress - preserving all versions of a post.

By Susan — [ ] Reported at 1:24 am, 11/06/2004.

Bakerstreetsystems have written a fantastic plugin for wordpress that stores all versions of a post for ever! Now you don't need to worry if you loose a precious copy of your post while editing. Simply restore a previous version of the post and rejoice… you have a previous copy up at the place! But beware… take special care when you have non-ascii characters embedded in your posts. The current version of WpVersionControl does not seem to handle non-ascii characters with ease.. wait for some time… or put your head in and write a new version of your own before you make it comfortable with those non-ascii characters that you love to use! Don't forget to have a full backup of the existing posts in your database.

Get this plugin from the following url : http://www.bakerstreetsystems.co.uk/2004/08/11/wpversioncontrol/

Download the plugin at : http://bakerstreetsystems.co.uk/wp-content/version-control_11.tar.gz

Good Luck!

Wordpress Related Posts Plugin by Mark

By Susan — [ ] Reported at 9:32 am, 11/05/2004.

As you can see, I've installed this Contextual related posts plugin for wordpress by Mark… I can see it's perfectly fetching out 5 realted posts when you check any pecific post through it's permalink… but I'm still not sure about the criteria this plugin is using to fetch out related posts… What if there are 100s of categories and 1000s of posts.. will this plugin perform just well in that case too ? I'm putting forward this question right to Mark himself… Let's see what he says… I'm also sending him an invitation to reply to this post right on iworld.
Cheers!
