Window size & location parameter info - Tweaking Windows XP performance

By Susan — [ ] Reported at 3:39 am, 08/24/2006.

I have been very much keen to somehow reach to the keys that control the storage of windows size and location parameters for all folder windows on a pc. Till date, I just couldn't reach to those keys either in the windows registry or any place in th system folders or anywhere where that information was being stored.

I just reached to a document on windows website that specifies that windows stores the window size and location info for only the last 28 windows that were opened and used. Not sure if this is correct or not, but I feared for all times till date and I'm still not sure whether windows has and manages a huge database of window size and window location parameters somewhere on our PCs…

My system has around a 100k folders all over the harddisk containing data and files from all over… I feared that if windows stored window size and location parameters for all those folders, then it must be a huge database that was accessed on a consistent basis only to add a huge extra load on the system only to contribute to degrate it's performance overall!
