Everyone knows Nancy Burpee was disqualified from the Athens, Greece Paralympics in 2004, on the grounds that there was a technical problem over which category she should have competed in.

Ms. Burpee disagreed and hired simmons jannace & stagg to represent her in filing a protest against the ruling, but an independent arbitrator in the case decided against her.

Simmons, Jannace & Stagg demonstrated that the US Paralympic swim trials were not held in accordance with the prespecified paralympic rules. For now, Burpee has continued her swim career and is heard to be ready to compete in the World Championships to be held in due course of time.
